Work experience

7/99 – present

USDA Forest Service
Bend, OR

Since July of 1999, I have been employed with the Bend/Ft. Rock Ranger District full-time as a member of the Natural Resource Information System Tool Development Group. Since coming onboard with NRIS I have learned many new skills and enhanced previous skills. NRIS has offered me a wide array of skill building opportunities that include ArcView Avenue programming, Arc/Info AML programming, HTML programming and Web page design layout and administration, Oracle data entry, migration and manipulation, jCVS (Java Concurrent Versioning System) administration, implementation and training, writing technical documentation for the development and administration of Forest Service software, databases and procedures, as well as providing support to others for distributed processing technology such as re-imaging corporate PCs, testing of various NRIS software products (in-house and off-the-shelf), hardware/software upgrading, and overall PC technical support for NRIS products and services.

Some specific projects that I have been involved with are the Terra Extension for ArcView (Avenue coding), the GIS Foundation (Oracle, SQL, documentation), Etools (testing, documentation), and the Water data migration into the GIS Foundation (AML coding). I have created and still maintain Web sites for the NRIS Tool Development Group, The NRIS Developer’s Web, and the Digital Visions Enterprise Team (for which I received a Spot Award).

11/98 – 6/99

Terrascope, Inc.
Redmond, OR

I was employed with Terrascope, a small, privately owned survey and engineering firm, full-time throughout the summer and part-time throughout the school year. My responsibilities included surveying, drafting site plans and partition plans, creating maps, preventive maintenance on the PCs, as well as upgrading hardware and/or software on the company’s PCs. For most projects I was allowed to work without direct supervision due to my high quality of work. One of my last and best projects for Terrascope was the creation of a local ranch boundary map for a private landowner. The map covered two counties (Jefferson and Deschutes) and took nearly a month to complete. During the process I learned a great deal about interagency communication and how to coordinate a large-scale project to fruition.

10/96 - 1/98

BroadCast Software Corp.
Bend, OR

I was employed full-time throughout the summer and part-time throughout the school year for BroadCast, a small private Internet startup of six employees. My main duties were to perform Web page design and implementation, order processing, and offer customer technical support. As Webmaster I would update our corporate web site (www.unboxed.com) with the latest software products available for consumers to download. I also performed routine maintenance on the web site. I used both Macintosh and Windows 95 platform utilities and text editors to accomplish the JavaScript, VBScript and HTML coding, as well as the graphical design tasks.

6/91 - 3/96

Clear Pine Moldings, Inc.
Prineville, OR

My experience with Clear Pine shows my commitment to getting the job done. In my time with the company I proved that I have a reliable work ethic and get ahead attitude. By missing only one day in nearly five years, due to illness, I’ve shown that I am one who can be counted on day in and day out.

I am a graduate of Central Oregon Community College with an AAS degree in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) from June of 1999 and an AAS degree in the Computer and Information Systems (CIS) program at Central Oregon Community College from September of 2000.
